Why Multan Sultan’s Bowling Coach Alex Hartley Decided to Fast?

Alex Hartley fasting in Pakistan

Web Desk — The Pakistan Super League’s (PSL) top team Multan Sultans’ spin bowling coach Alex Hartley says she is fasting with her team players in the holy month of Ramadan.

Former English cricketer, Hartley has been an integral part of Multan Sultans’ success journey in the PSL season9. Multan Sultans has already qualified for the final to be played at the National Stadium Karachi on March 18.

Hartley said she decided to fast because she wanted to understand what it’s like and how players feel when they go into the game after fasting all day long.

“It is Ramadan and the lads are fasting. So, I thought I really want to understand how they’re feeling when they get to the game. I think it is only fair that the players are doing it, so I should join them [in fasting],” Hartley told BBC 5 Live Sport.

Hartley explained the challenges she was facing in her daily routine due to fasting, admitting that it is “very hard” as she feels thirsty.

She said, “We have just broken our fast now after we fasted all day. I have had some dates and some salad. We can eat till 4 am and then we don’t eat again till 6:40 pm the next day. It is hard, so hard.”

“I go to bed at 4 am and sleep during the day, as our games start at 9 pm in the night,” Hartley concluded.

The Sultans became the first team to qualify for the final of the ninth edition of PSL.
