Pakistani Presenter Zainab Abbas Deported From India

Web Desk — In a move that has shocked the cricketing world, India deported a renowned Pakistani presenter Zainab Abbas who was there to cover the ongoing World Cup 2023.

The reason behind deportation was a tweet that Zainab Abbas made eight years ago. An Indian lawyer claims that Zainab criticized the Hindu religion and India in her tweet.

The lawyer on the basis of his claim filed a cybercrime complaint against Zainab Abbas and requested the Delhi Police to register an FIR against the presenter. According to the media Zainab has now relocated to Dubai.

It is surprising that the ICC has given no reaction to what it believes to be Indian propaganda. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is also silent on the issue.

This event has rightly raised concerns regarding the freedom of the press and the hospitality extended to international media personnel, especially in the World Cup.

No official reaction has yet been given on this issue by the government of Pakistan.
