Web Desk — On Tuesday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif officially launched the ‘Uraan Pakistan: Homegrown National Economic Plan,’ outlining the National Economic Transformation Plan for 2024-29 to address Pakistan’s economic challenges.
During the launch ceremony in Islamabad, PM Shehbaz shared, “Over the past nine months, we have faced significant economic challenges. Through the tireless efforts of both the federal and provincial governments, and with the support of our partners, we have achieved macroeconomic stability.”
However, the Prime Minister emphasized that “this is just the beginning of a long journey that will require hard work, sacrifice, and determination to achieve sustainable economic growth and restore Pakistan’s standing among the global community.”
The five-year National Economic Plan focuses on key areas to tackle Pakistan’s economic issues, with a framework based on the “Five Es”: Exports, E-Pakistan, Equity and Empowerment, Environment, Food and Water Security, and Energy and Infrastructure.
Earlier this year, in April, PM Shehbaz stressed the importance of a strategic plan to double Pakistan’s exports. He urged the Ministry of Trade to collaborate with successful entrepreneurs and industry stakeholders to create a comprehensive export strategy.
The ceremony, held in Islamabad, featured speeches from Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar. All leaders emphasized the importance of collective effort and unity in achieving the goals of the economic reform package.
Information Minister Attaullah Tarar highlighted that these economic reforms would improve the quality of life for Pakistani citizens, boost economic growth, and strengthen the country’s overall economy. He noted that Pakistan has successfully moved from the brink of default to a more stable economic position, with positive trends seen in various economic indicators.
This initiative marks a significant step towards Pakistan’s economic recovery and long-term economic development.
