Temporary Mobile Registration System for Overseas Pakistanis

Temporary mobile registration for overseas Pakistan

Web Desk — The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) have collaborated to develop a new system for temporary registration of overseas Pakistani and foreign nationals’ mobile devices in collaboration with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and mobile phone operators.

We have introduced this module for overseas Pakistanis and foreign nationals who do not intend to keep their mobile devices in Pakistan, and it will only be applicable for one mobile handset device.

In order to use this facility, the applicant must submit his/her credentials, including passport number, date of arrival and date of departure, mobile SIM card issued in his/her name, and IMEI number(s).

To verify the applicant’s date of arrival, the new system shall use the FIA’s Integrated Border Management System (IBMS).

Following the expiration of 120 days of the applicant’s stay, the IMEI(s) used under this facilitation will be suspended and no longer be usable on local networks. In the case of a repeat visit to Pakistan by the same applicant, he/she will need to reapply for this temporary facilitation, by providing the credentials used for the first or previous registration under this scheme.

By facilitating overseas Pakistanis and foreign nationals to visit Pakistan on a short-term basis, this system will not only create a positive image of Pakistan. Likewise, the checks introduced under this system will ensure that only legitimate overseas Pakistani/foreign nationals are able to access the facility.
