Taliban’s Actions Are Un-Islamic: Malala Yousafzai

Malala address women education conference

Israel and the Gaza Education Crisis
Web Desk — Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai criticized Israel for destroying Gaza’s educational infrastructure during her address at an international conference on girls’ education in Islamabad. She highlighted that 90% of universities in Gaza have been destroyed, and countless schools are in ruins, leaving Palestinian girls unable to pursue their education or build a future.

Taliban’s Policies Against Afghan Girls
Speaking on “Girls’ Education, Opportunities, and Challenges in Muslim Societies,” Malala emphasized the plight of Afghan girls. She stated that the conference’s purpose would remain unfulfilled without addressing their struggles.

“Taliban do not see women as humans,” she said, adding that they have enacted over 100 laws to strip women of their rights. Malala asserted that the Taliban disguise their crimes under the pretext of culture and religion, but there is nothing Islamic about their policies. “These policies are human rights violations and do not reflect Islamic teachings,” she added.

The Role of Girls’ Education in Economic Growth
Malala expressed her gratitude to the Muslim World League for organizing the event and reiterated that improving the economy requires equal contributions from women and men.

She said, “Most governments neglect girls’ education, but the scenario is slowly changing. However, if we continue to ignore crises, we will fail to uphold Islam’s core principles.”

Education Challenges in Pakistan
Malala also shed light on the state of education in Pakistan, stating that 12 million girls in the country remain out of school. “I started my journey in Pakistan, and my heart will always remain here,” she said.

Malala concluded by urging governments to prioritize girls’ education and highlighting its transformative potential for both society and the economy.
