NCOC Officially Shuts Down, Baton Passed To Health Ministry

NCOC officially shuts down

Web Desk — The National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), the nerve center to coordinate and enunciate a united national battle against Covid-19, is set to shut down on Thursday, Asad Umar, Minister for Planning and Development, announced today via Twitter.

He said that the Covid indicators were at all-time lows, and vaccination rates are high, so the baton has now been passed to the Ministry of Health, he said.

He further added that chairing NCOC during the last two years and working with the most dedicated team has been the greatest privilege and honour of his life.

Global agencies and personalities praised Pakistan’s Covid response as one of the most successful in the world, he said, adding that the NCOC successfully vaccinated the maximum population.

After the body was closed due to a decline in the number of COVID-19 cases, Prime Minister Imran Khan on the same day praised NCOC’s nationally-coordinated response during the pandemic.

In his Twitter message, PM said, “I want to congratulate the NCOC team & its leadership for a professional, nationally-coordinated response to the pandemic. As a result, our Covid response was recognized by international agencies and people in the field as one of the most successful globally.”
