Imran Khan Disqualified In Tosha Khana Reference

Imran Khan disqualified

Web Desk — The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), in a consensus verdict, disqualified PTI Chairman Imran Khan in the Tosha Khana reference. After the verdict, Imran Khan no longer remains a member of the National Assembly.

According to the ECP verdict, Imran Khan submitted a false affidavit and was found involved in corrupt practices. The ECP directed the government to initiate further legal action against Imran Khan.

There was tight security around the ECP when the verdict was announced.

In the Tosha Khana case, the ECP had reserved its verdict on September 19 after arguments were completed from both sides. A five-member bench of the ECP, headed by Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja, heard the case.

The PTI announced to challenge the verdict in the Islamabad High Court immediately.

PTI Reaction
Reacting strongly to the verdict, PTI leader Fawad Hussain Chaudhry slammed the ECP. He said the Election Commission’s attitude had been the worst. “We never pinned any hopes on it.” “This is a shameful decision. They have shamed the 220-million-strong-nation.”

Fawad termed the decision an assault on the institutions of Pakistan.
