Imran Khan Responds to £190 Million Conviction

Imran Khan reaction on 190 million pound case

Web Desk – PTI founder Imran Khan has responded further to his conviction in the £190 million case, inviting the government and its institutions to open the so-called “sealed envelope” to reveal its secrets to the public and expose the truth.

In a statement shared on the social media platform “X,” Imran Khan stated that when a case’s sole purpose is propaganda and spreading lies day and night, nothing is made public.

During his interaction with lawyers and media at Adiala Jail, Imran Khan remarked that dragging household women into politics and tarnishing their dignity is against social, moral, and religious values.

Imran Khan clarified that his wife, Bushra Bibi, has no involvement in politics, and targeting her to pressure him is condemnable. He further said that Bushra Bibi has endured hardships only because she is his wife. He labeled the act of targeting women in politics as the height of moral degradation.

The PTI chairman reiterated that the party’s struggle is aimed at upholding democracy, ensuring the rule of law and the constitution, safeguarding an independent judiciary and media, and protecting fundamental human rights. “We will succeed in this mission,” he declared, vowing to fight for these values until his last breath.

Imran Khan also criticized the prosecution, stating that they have failed to prove any money laundering charges against him. “If I am being accused as a public office holder, on whose direction has a homemaker like Bushra Bibi been declared guilty?” he questioned.

He also called out the absurdity of the court’s decision to take Al-Qadir University into government custody, arguing that it is a trust-owned property, not government-owned. “Under what law can the government seize a trust’s property?” he asked.

Background of the Case:

On January 17, an accountability court judge, Nasir Javed Rana, convicted Imran Khan in the £190 million reference, sentencing him to 14 years and his wife, Bushra Bibi, to 7 years in prison. Bushra Bibi was arrested from the courtroom following the verdict.

The court also imposed Rs. 1 million fines on Imran Khan and Rs. 500,000 on Bushra Bibi. Failure to pay the fines will result in an additional 6 months of imprisonment for Imran Khan and 3 months for Bushra Bibi.

The case pertains to allegations that during the PTI government, Imran Khan and his wife acquired billions of rupees and vast tracts of land in exchange for legalizing £190 million sent to Pakistan by the UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA).

The controversy revolves around the alleged illegal acquisition of land and construction of Al-Qadir University, along with the misuse of £140 million recovered by the NCA from Malik Riaz and his family in a money-laundering case.

Imran Khan is also accused of concealing facts about the agreement from the cabinet and misleading them. The recovered amount was allegedly adjusted against Bahria Town Karachi’s liabilities of Rs. 450 billion instead of being deposited into the national treasury.

February 8: Black Day Announcement

Imran Khan announced observing February 8 as a Black Day across the country, claiming that on this day, the mandate of the Pakistani people was violated and a fake government was imposed through Form 47.

He directed Ali Amin Gandapur to gather convoys from all over Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in Peshawar on February 8 for a protest.
