“Pakistan Will Not Recognize Taliban Govt Unilaterally”

Pakistan won't recognize Taliban Govt

WASHINGTON: (Web Desk) Pakistan assures the international community that it is not in a hurry to give recognition to the Taliban government in Afghanistan.

Pakistan’s envoys in US and UN have assured the world that Islamabad won’t take any unilateral decision to provide diplomatic recognition to the Taliban government in Afghanistan.

In an interview with the CBS News, Pakistan’s ambassador in Washington Asad Majeed Khan said Taliban’s conduction would influence Pakistan’s decision in this regard. Closer look at the events unfolding in Afghanistan, would show the fallacy of such suggestions, he said.

“Taliban want international recognition and acceptance and we should use that leverage in order to ensure good behaviour on their part,” Pakistan’s envoy in the UN Mr. Munir Akram added.

Ambassador Khan rejected the suggestion that Pakistan help Taliban launch their most recent offensive on Kabul. Events unfolding in Afghanistan would show the fallacy of such suggestion, he added.
