Maulana Fazlur Rehman Criticizes Establishment’s Authority

Fazalur Rehman questions Establishment authority

Monitoring Desk: The establishment has no ideology; its only concern is to maintain its authority. We object to this and will continue to do so.

These remarks were made by Maulana Fazlur Rehman during a press conference in Karachi. He stated that PTI did not take them into confidence regarding the negotiations with the government. He added that completing a term has no connection with election transparency. Even authoritarian governments complete their terms, some ruling for as long as 10 years.

The JUI chief said, “The establishment still insists on making decisions and determining outcomes. What value does the public have? By doing so, they are mocking democracy. When the establishment ridicules democracy and the Constitution, shouldn’t people criticize them?”

Maulana expressed dissatisfaction with politicians who compromise and hand over the system to the establishment just to gain some benefits. “Is this how credibility is achieved?” he questioned.

He further said, “What fascination does the establishment or rulers have with meddling in madrassas? Why are they determined to make the religious community their opponents? Madrassas will not accept any interference in their education system.”

Regarding Khalid Maqbool, Maulana remarked, “He is respectable to me. He came to my house to understand the act. While Khalid Maqbool may be the Minister of Education, at my house, he is the one being educated.”
