Web Desk — Facebook and its Instagram and WhatsApp services were down across various parts of the world on Monday.
The company said it was aware that “some people are having trouble accessing (the) Facebook app” and it was working on restoring access. Regarding the internal failures, Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, tweeted that it feels like a “snow day.”
The company did not say anything as to what went wrong in the system that caused the worldwide outage that began around 11:45 ET.
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority said that Facebook services had been affected internationally due to an outage. “Further details are being collected,” a spokesperson for the authority said.
“We’re aware that some people are having trouble accessing our apps and products,” Facebook spokesman Andy Stone said on Twitter.
“We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible, and we apologize for any inconvenience,” he said.
Facebook’s internal systems used by employees also went down.
