Pakistan’s IT Exports To Reach $15 BN In Next 3-Years: Govt

Web Desk — Federal Information Technology Minister, Syed Amin ul Haque says that Pakistan’s IT-related exports are expected to reach $15 billion per annum from the existing $2.6 billion in the next three years if the current facilitation policy remains intact.

The minister, while speaking in the National Assembly, said IT export was $1.4 billion in the fiscal year 2019-20, $2.1 billion in 2020-21 and in May 2023 it jumped to $2.6 billion.

He appreciated the prime minister for boosting the IT industry’s confidence by improving taxation and industry-related matters with his keen interest.

The Minister threw light upon the ongoing projects providing broadband services in underprivileged areas and outlined steps taken to promote the IT and Telecom industry over the past five years.

Amin ul Haque was delighted to share that the IT industry’s exports witnessed a remarkable 28% increase in May 2023, attributing this development to the government’s efforts and IT-friendly policies.

Mr. Hauqe rightly said that 28 mobile phone companies were working in Pakistan as the government formulated the mobile phone manufacturing policy. He said the government was working under the vision of a smartphone for all. The minister hoped that it would help promote E-banking, E-Commerce, E-agriculture, and E-Education sectors in Pakistan.
