DG ISI Lt. Gen Faiz Hameed called on Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday and discussed security related matters. Senior journalist/anchor Kamran Khan while commenting on this meeting in his program ‘Dunya Kamran Khan Kay Sath’ said the meeting took place in pleasant environment but the country’s economic condition is certainly not so.
Inflation is at its highest point and the tax collection this year is expected to be Rs800bn to 900bn less than its target.
IMF is asking Islamabad to bring mini budget, electricity prices are unbearable and the government has already broken its promise of providing subsidized electricity to the textile exporters.
In January, exports are recorded less than the estimated target. FBR chairman Shabar Zaidi is also on leave allegedly on his differences with Finance advisor to PM Mr Hafeez Sheikh. With less current account deficit the revenue collection is also less.
According to Kamran Khan, PM Imran Khan believes some mafias are working against his government but at the same time he (Imran Khan) forgets that it is also his duty as chief executive of the country to rein these mafias. The anchor said that despite full-fledged support from the establishment, Imran Khan Government is unable to deliver.
In his analysis Kamran Khan was of the view that under these circumstances Imran Khan must have asked the DG ISI whether there was any conspiracy going on against his Government. According to Kamran Khan, the DG ISI must have told the Prime Minister that there was no conspiracy; actually the Government felt feeble because it was not delivering.
