The Indian team will have to win its remaining matches with a better margin besides praying for Namibia or Scotland’s upset victory against New Zealand.
Currently, Pakistan with three victories is at number one position in its group while Afghanistan is number 2 with 4 points. New Zealand is number 3 and Namibia is at number 4.
India and Scotland have no victories yet, so they have zero points on the points table.
Pakistan’s entry into the semi-final is almost certain. Green shirts have their remaining matches with Namibia and Scotland.
In order to reach the semi-final, India will have to win its remaining 3 matches with a better net run rate.
India has matches against Afghanistan, Namibia, and Scotland. New Zealand will also play against these three teams.
If New Zealand wins all its remaining matches, then India will have no chance to move to the semis. So, it will be in India’s favor if New Zealand gets an upset defeat at the hands of Namibia or Scotland.
In case New Zealand beat Namibia and Scotland and Afghanistan defeat New Zealand and India win all its remaining matches, then New Zealand, Afghanistan, and India will 6 points each.
In this case the decision for the teams to play semi-final will be taken on the net run rate.
