Web Desk — A Kuwaiti Criminal Court has sentenced a Syrian blogger to three years in prison, followed by deportation, for allegedly insulting Kuwait’s leadership and making derogatory remarks about Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Tunisia on social media. The blogger was also charged with spreading false information.
According to the Kuwaiti authorities, the blogger was prosecuted on state security charges after being accused of using a pseudonymous account on the social media platform X to post offensive comments targeting Gulf and Arab nations.
The blogger’s identity has not been revealed. In Kuwait, criticism of the emir is a constitutional offense, leading to a prison sentence of up to five years.
