Web Desk – Hundreds of Pakistani students, studying in Ukraine, are crying for their evacuation but as students claim the Pakistan embassy has left them helpless in the war-torn area.
Students who have taken refuge in bunkers and underground tunnels complained that the embassy was not cooperating to get them out. Expressing their plight, the students said they were lying like homeless people and had nothing to eat or drink.
Hundreds of Pakistani students are waiting for help in the capital city of Kiev, the main target of invading Russian troops.
On the other hand, the Pakistani embassy has advised all Pakistani students in Ukraine to reach the city of Ternopil as soon as possible for evacuation. After Russian forces attack, the Pakistan embassy was moved to the city of Ternopil.
Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesperson said, “A focal person of the Pakistan embassy is also available for facilitation of Pakistani students in Kyiv,” he said, also providing a cell phone number (+380681734727).
The FO also provided the contact details of the focal person in Ternopil, Dr Shahzad Najam. Pakistanis in Ukraine can contact him on the following numbers: +380632288874, +380979335992.
“Trains are functioning and tickets are available from Kharkiv to Lviv/ Ternopil. In cities where public transport is not available at the moment, all students are informed that the concerned Honorary Education Consultant has been asked for arranging transportation and bringing students to Ternopil,” the statement said.
According to Pakistani embassy a facilitation center has been made at Ternopil and a reception point has been setup at the Lviv railway station. It further said that the Pakistani students will be evacuated to Poland.
The embassy urged students in Ukraine to keep in touch with the focal persons so that they could be evacuated as soon as possible.
