10 books President Arif Alvi recommended for reading in 2022

Web Desk — President Dr. Arif Alvi on Sunday recommended 10 valuable books to readers for the year 2022, which contain chapters full of immense knowledge and research work.
1. “Tuba” by Shah Baleeghudin. 

He stated that it covers various aspects of the life of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) and the conspicuous chapters of Islamic history.

2. “From Plassey to Pakistan” by Humayun Mirza

Humayun Mirza is the son of late President Iskander Mirza. This book covers different aspects of Iskander Mirza’s family’s history. 

3. “The End of India” by Khushwant Singh

President also suggested this book, written in 2005. The author had predicted that India was passing through a phase in which it would burn itself to the ground.

4. “The Narrow Corridor” by Daron Acemoglu/James A Robinson

Alvi also suggested this book highlighting the issues of states, societies, and the fate of liberty. He said that the authors had delineated the narrow corridor of democracy and challenges. The authors had cited the tight rope walking between anarchy, dictatorship, and securing liberty. 

5. “Sapiens” by Yuval Noah Harari 

In ‘Sapiens’, the author gives a brief account of the history of humankind, its footprints affecting the environment, and the subsequent DNA changes in the human species.

6. “The Future is Faster Than You Think”

President Alvi said this book by Peter H Diamandis and Steven Kotler dealt with the subject of the formation of the big bang theory, time-space, and the rapid changes in the world due to IT revolutions and artificial intelligence.

7. “Exponential” by Azeem Azhar

The book explains how progress in the scientific realms was made and how society was unaware of such transformations.

8. “The age of AI and our human future”

The President also recommended this book by Henry A. Kissinger, Eric Schmidt, and Daniel Huttenlocker.

9. The Pentagon’s brain’ – an uncensored history of DARPA by Annie Jacobsen

This book contains material about the latest nuclear research, defense matters, cyber security, and space.

10. ‘I. Warbot’ by Kenneth Payen

The book explores the prospects of the robotic warfare era and the gradual replacement of human functions by robots in different sectors of life.
